The Young Environmental Research & Advocacy Hub Europe (YERA Hub) engages in research on EU environmental law from a young perspective. Their goal is to shape EU law in a way that benefits the environment, by sharing their research with civil society and stakeholders and forming alliances with like-minded NGOs for impactful advocacy.

How they work

YERA Hub seeks to provide truly interdisciplinary research methods on the implementation of
the Environmental Crime Directive and open box advocacy methods to render the ECD as
effective as possible focussing on proper implementation in light of EU goals at Memberstate
level in the Netherlands, Germany and France and at enforcement at supranational EU level.

YERA Hub consists of two complimentary teams: Advocacy and Research. The Research team
conducts interdisciplinary projects to understand and innovate environmental legislation in the EU and beyond. The Advocacy team then connects with academia, NGOs and the corporate and legal sectors to ensure the strategic impact of the research results. YERA Hub also hosts events to present their research, joins expert panel talks and links up with professionals.

In March 2024, they hosted an event on the Environmental Crime Directive at the LawHub, and in summer 2024 they will host an immersive Art exhibition on broadening the access to knowledge to Rights of Nature by creating a dialogue between art and research.
